Reiki Helps to Alleviate Anxiety
Reiki is an alternative energy based healing therapy. Started in the early 1920s in Japan, westerns have caught onto it’s many health benefits in the past decade. It works when a reiki master practices hand on therapy by flowing positive, healing energy through one's body removing negative energy. Reiki has been shown to help alleviate back pain, improve anxiety and some people healed from serious illnesses ex. cancer. Sounds pretty rad, right?!
As someone who practices alternative, eastern therapies like acupuncture and reflexology, I knew I had to try out Reiki when I first heard about it a couple of years ago. During my first session, I was a bit nervous and anxious as I did not know what to expect. The treatment lasted 30 minutes to an hour, kept my clothes on, focused on my breath and meditated. During the session, the reiki master flows positive energy into one's body. Let me tell you- I was amazed at how much better I felt post-Reiki. I felt lighter, less anxious, and my mind was not racing.
Years later, I still go to Reiki, having tried a couple of practitioners out I found a great Reiki master down the street from me. I go when I am in an anxious state, overly stressed and need grounding in my life
