Thank you, Mom!
My mom and I have always had a special bond. As a baby, I was attached to her hip, slept on her chest, and never lost sight of her as I started to walk. When I approached school age, I remember being sad because I did not want to leave my mom and she often had to encourage me to play with other kids. I found comfort in routine and with people from a young age, and my mom has always been someone I feel at home with.
I will never be able to thank my mom enough for the countless hours she stayed awake worrying about me, or the endless love and support she has given me over the years.
These are just a few of the thank yous, mom:
Thank you for picking up the phone, sometimes 5 times a day to talk my anxiety down
Thank you for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself
Thank you for listening to my beliefs and frustrations
Thank you for supporting me when I came out
Thank you for buying that ridiculously expensive high school prom dress, “what was I thinking!”
Thank you for listening and never judging
Thank you for letting me know it is okay to be sad sometimes
Thank you for telling me I don’t have to figure it all out
Thank you for being the best advice giver
Thank you for all the voice, piano, ballet, and sports lessons
Thank you for supporting my many endeavors
Thank you for showing me you can follow your dreams at any stage in life
Thank you for telling me my happiness should always be my top priority
Thank you for raising me from the girl to the woman I am today
Thank you for showing me what endless compassion looks like
Thank you for being my mom <3
Happy Mother’s Day, I love you, Mom!
