What is Anxiety

What is anxiety? You may have Googled that question before and landed on this blog, or you may be experiencing anxiety in this very moment. Whatever reason landed here- you or someone you know is experience anxiety and you’re seeking answers.

I am going to let you in on a little secret. You most likely have experienced anxiety at some point in your life. Have you ever worried, felt uneasy or even nervous? Most likely, you have. Imagine feeling like that all the time. Uncomfortable, right? Even frightening!

The difference between isolated incidents of anxiety and chronic anxiety is how it impacts one's life. Anxiety manifests in many different ways from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder to Panic Attacks to Social Anxiety. If feelings of stress and overwhelm have taken over your life and make day to day living hard, you may have anxiety. Only a trained professional can diagnose an anxiety disorder. 

Anxiety is uncomfortable and comes with a whole slew of symptoms. Symptoms include but are not limited to:

-Believe you are going crazy

-Sweating

-Heart Increase/palpitations

-Thinking you are going to die

-Clammy hands

-Increased or decreased appetite

-Dizziness

-Nausea

-Dry mouth

Anxiety is scary, overwhelming and isolating. Voices of Anxiety is a site dedicated to you and anyone in your life dealing with anxiety. I will share first-hand accounts of my experience with anxiety. I will also be introducing others who have anxiety stories to share in the book, on the blog, and during podcasts. We are here to connect to one another, destigmatize mental health and make the struggles of anxiety less isolating.
